Reform's by-election spree will cost us millions

Reform councillors are dropping like flies, triggering by-elections all over the place. It raises the question, “Does someone in the Reform party own shares in a company that prints election ballot papers?"" It’s the only reason I can think of for the number of them stepping down and triggering by-elections.

It’s one thing to get into power and feel overwhelmed by the opaque and sometimes archaic language of procedural politics - in that regard I have a degree of sympathy with all the new councillors and MSPs - but to trigger millions of pounds worth of by-elections when local authorities are so cash strapped is negligent.

It says something about our society and the way we (don’t) teach civics that new faces from new parties are bamboozled about what’s expected of them. It’s easy being an armchair complainer, but it’s bloody hard and often boring work to get people to agree to a budget change.

Their all round incompetence is stunning and shows gaps of all kinds in our society as well as their ability to recruit and equip serious people. Because they are a cult of leadership, slaves to Nigel’s every word, the party has no need to develop quality public servants, they’re just there to be bums on seats for when a vote happens or to get Nigel to the top seat. Not gonna happen Nigel.

And when he fails, they’ll all disappear into the crowd, trigger millions upon millions more in election spending.
